At Sansone Kia, we provide some of the best new and pre-owned Kia cars near Edison, NJ. But our service doesn’t stop when we hand you the keys to your new car. Our service center is here to fix any maintenance or car repair issues, including tire replacement. Buying tires can be tricky, so it’s good to know about the different options out there and the signs that your tires need replacement.

Different Types of Tires

Knowing the different types of tires not only makes the buying process easier, but it also keeps you and your passengers safe on the road. If you have a new Kia sedan, like the 2018 Kia Forte, or one of our crossover vehicles, such as the 2018 Kia Sportage, you’ll be looking at touring tires. The all-season variety provides basic grip and handling to get through that New Jersey rain or snow, while performance tires add extra grip and are ideal for sports cars, like the Kia Stinger.

If you have one of our larger SUVs, like the 2018 Kia Sorento, you’ll want to opt for highway tires, which can handle heavier loads and are ideal for traveling on the pavement. These tires are generally very durable and have tread patterns that help prevent uneven wear.

Signs You Need New Tires

The most obvious way to tell that you need new tires is by looking at the treads and performing the “penny test.” Stick a penny head-down into the tire tread, and if Lincoln’s head remains visible, it means it’s time to visit our service center near Staten Island, NJ and purchase new tires. New tires also have wear indicator bars – flat, rubber bars running perpendicular to the treads. If more than one of these bars is visible, it means your tires need to be replaced.

Other indicators you need new tires are cracks in the sidewall of the tire or constant vibrating while driving. While old tires are not always the cause of vibrations in your vehicle, a technician at your nearest Kia service center can diagnose the problem.

At our NJ Kia dealership, we want to keep your car running long after it leaves our lot. So stop on by, and we’ll be happy to answer any questions you have regarding new tires or any other car maintenance issue.
