Service centers typically offer general maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, shock and strut inspections, and more. This may also extend to more extensive solutions to a limited degree, such as engine and transmission rebuild. If your car manual specifies a filter, oil, or transmission fluid change every X miles, a service center is where you would go.

A collision center is pretty self-explanatory; it’s where you bring your vehicle after you’d been in an accident. A crew member will assess the damage and determine what work needs to be done to restore your vehicle back to its original state. Collision centers also specialize in touch-ups at the aesthetic level, such as paint restoration and dent repair.
In more severe collisions, an inspector will decide if the car is salvageable or if it’s a total loss. If the latter, your insurance provider will write you a check according to the car’s worth determined by Kelley Blue Book.
