If you want to keep your new Kia vehicle in great shape, you have to schedule regular Kia maintenance appointments. A routine inspection includes a look at the wheels and whether they’re due for an alignment. Your vehicle will also give clues that the tires are not perfectly aligned and require an adjustment. Here are some signs to watch out for when your wheels are out of alignment.

Car Pulling

The biggest telltale sign is that your vehicle gradually veers to the left or right. This makes the driver have to consciously and continuously re-shift the steering wheel to keep it straight.

Vibrations

When you accelerate, do you feel a vibration in the steering wheel? If the vibration is strong enough that you can feel the shaking transferring from the wheel to your hands, then one or more wheels may be misaligned.

Accelerated Tire Wear

You may notice that the tire treads are wearing more quickly. Furthermore, the wear may be more apparent in one or two tires. This creates uneven tire wear.

What Causes Wheel Misalignment?

What exactly causes the wheels to come out of alignment in the first place? There are several causes. The most common culprits include:

  • Impact – the wheel alignment can be rendered out of alignment due to a forceful impact, such as from driving over a deep pothole or a collision with another vehicle.
  • Age – With time, the various components in your suspension may wear or loosen.
  • Speed Bumps – Speedbumps are there to force you to slow down. If you drive over a speed bump without slowing, it can be damaging to the wheels.
