- Weather conditions. As soon as it begins to rain, slow your 2019 Kia Optima down and give yourself some space from the vehicle ahead. If you find that you begin to hydroplane, remove your foot off the gas completely and slow down until you regain control. The protocol is similar for snow. If you hit black ice, which is ice that blends in with the color of the road and goes unnoticed, suspend acceleration, slow down, and do not brake. Stay in the right lane when experiencing weather-related challenges.
- Flat tires. You’ll likely know when you have a flat tire by the car thumping and change in steering. They happen all the time, oftentimes due to sharp objects on the road. Stay calm, put your emergency flashers on, remove your foot from the gas, and navigate slowly to a spot without traffic. Once you’re safe, call for help, unless you feel completely confident changing the tire yourself.
- Collisions. If you find yourself in an unfortunate situation, like a car crash, the very first thing you need to do is ensure that you are ok. Next, move your vehicle away from traffic and go check on everyone else involved in the crash. Call 9-1-1- then begin collecting contact and insurance information with the other car, as well as any witness contact information.
